Strong placing for CHESSPIECE in Gr.2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot

Today, Ammerland-bred CHESSPIECE put in a very strong performance at the second day of the Royal Ascot meeting. The three-year-old colt by Nathaniel out of the Gr.1-placed ROYAL SOLITAIRE finished a very strong third with James Doyle on board in the Gr.2 Queen's Vase, pursed with the equivalent of €298,000, over the stayer distance of 2,800 metres. Doing so, CHESSPIECE, who races in the world famous Godolphin colours, managed the jump to Group level with flying colors after two handicap wins and recorded his third victory in four starts.
